Texas grip operator ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) asked locals to minimize energy use amidst a blistering heat wave to prevent rolling blackouts.

ERCOT asked consumers to take the following actions to cut electrical energy usage:
- Raise thermostats by a degree or 2
- Avoid utilizing big devices i.e., washer/dryer and so on
- Turn off and disconnect non-essential lights and devices
- Set swimming pool pumps to run morning or over night; shut down throughout peak hours
- Commercial Businesses: Turn off any lights a workplace devices when area not in usage
- Commercial Businesses: Turn off air-conditioning beyond organization hours
