An anti-capitalist, pay-what-you-can coffee shop in Toronto is closing its doors simply a year after opening.

The coffee shop likewise offered tee shirts and bags including left-wing mottos and books on radical, progressive politics.

Apparently, none of this sufficed to keep the coffee shop afloat.

Breitbart News reports:

Toronto’s ‘Anti-Capitalist’ Cafe Closing Down After Just a Year in Business

Toronto’s apparently ‘anti-capitalist’ coffee shop, The Anarchist, has actually revealed that it would be completely closing down after simply over a year in service.

In a “no one saw that coming” minute, a Toronto coffee shop that explains itself as an “anti-capitalist, anti-colonial coffee shop, store and extreme neighborhood area on stolen land,” revealed that it would be closing down completely by the end of the month.

To counter the concept that business was itself a capitalist business, the coffee shop presented a “pay what you can” coffee, which the owner stated expense business cash, however was apparently subsidised by more costly beverages on the menu.

Yet, this was relatively insufficient to keep the coffeehouse afloat, with owner Gabriel Sims-Fewer composing today: “Unfortunately, the absence of generational wealth/seed capital from fairly insolvent sources left me not able to weather the peaceful winter, or to grow in the methods required to be sustainable longer-term.”

Here’s a video about the coffee shop from in 2015:

Who could have anticipated that this concept would stop working?

Perhaps extreme leftism isn’t as popular as the media would have us think.
