Libertarian-leaning Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is remaining defiant even in the face of a potentially serious primary challenger supported by President Trump.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Trump has declared political war on Massie for opposing the Trump-backed funding bill aimed at preventing a government shutdown. The president has urged Republican lawmakers to rally behind a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded through September.

But Massie is a hard no. He has slammed the bill as a Uniparty deal that fully funds USAID while providing zero funds for the border wall.

“The CR is a UNIPARTY deal. It doesn’t fund the wall. It does fund USAID,” he wrote. “The democrats depart for a retreat on Wednesday, so they’ve already agreed to provide enough votes to pass the CR. Meanwhile, our election mandate will wane by this coming Sept.”

“I’m not voting for the Continuing Resolution budget (cut-copy-paste omnibus) this week,” he added. “Why would I vote to continue the waste fraud and abuse DOGE has found? We were told the CR in December would get us to March when we would fight. Here we are in March, punting again! WTFO”

Massie’s position infuriated Trump, who demanded someone challenge Massie in a GOP primary while comparing him to disgraced neo-con warmonger Liz Cheney.

Thank you to the House Freedom Caucus for just delivering a big blow to the Radical Left Democrats and their desire to raise Taxes and SHUT OUR COUNTRY DOWN! They hate America and all it stands for. That’s why they allowed MILLIONS of Criminals to invade our Nation. Sometimes it takes great courage to do the right thing.

Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic “NO” vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight.

He reminds me of Liz Chaney before her historic, record breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it, just watch. DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS??? Anyway, thank you again to the House Freedom Caucus for your very important vote.

We need to buy some time in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. Unite and Win!!!

Trump later criticized Massie for voting to delay the final debt ceiling bill from the Biden regime which extended into the Trump Administration calling it a “horrendously stupid move.” He then reiterated his primary threat against the Kentucky congressman.

“Congressman” Thomas Massie voted to delay the Debt Ceiling Bill from the Biden Administration to the Trump Administration (from September before the Election, to June after the Election!), without getting anything for this horrendously stupid move — When Republicans could have gotten EVERYTHING they wanted.

He additionally voted to delay the current Budget Disaster from the Biden Administration to the Trump Administration. I was running for Office at the time, doing my thing, and when I heard about this, it was, quite simply, hard to believe — A catastrophic mistake! Now, and virtually on every other vote, he’s a very simple, “NO.” He can’t even approve a Continuing Resolution when he approved them many times during his career as a “Congressman.”

Thomas Massie is a GRANDSTANDER, and the Great People of Kentucky are going to be watching a very interesting Primary in the not too distant future!

On Tuesday afternoon, Massie responded to Trump’s primary threat by vowing not to cave to Trump while claiming Canada will eventually bend the knee.

“POTUS is spending his day attacking me and Canada,” Massie wrote on X. “The difference is Canada will eventually cave.”

Massie also called Trump’s afternoon Truth Social post misleading, saying he never voted for a CR that became law. He also stated that the debt ceiling bill Trump was referring to had an 8% cut in discretionary spending.

“Do the research and you will find I have been consistent,” he added.

A Massie primary challenge would prove quite different than previous ones backed by Trump. Unlike Cheney, Massie has considerable support from MAGA conservatives who see him as ally against the Deep State, big government, and endless wars.

It would be best if both Massie and Trump made peace and united against the globalists and radical leftists trying to tear our nation apart.
