Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin states that he thinks previous Vice President Mike Pence is going to willingly affirm prior to the January 6 committee.

Raskin talked about Pence throughout a look on Face the Nation on Sunday.

The Maryland congressman and member of the committee stated that Pence was “the target of Donald Trump’s rage and fury” that day.

” Vice President Pence was the target of Donald Trump’s rage and fury and effort to topple the election on January 6, the entire concept was to get Pence to step outdoors his constitutional function, and after that to state unilateral lawless powers to decline Electoral College votes from the states,” Raskin stated.

” I believe he has a great deal of appropriate proof, and I would hope he would step forward and affirm about what occurred,” Raskin stated.

When inquired about if they will force Pence to affirm if he does pass by to do so willingly, Raskin did not eliminate a subpoena– however stated that he does not believe it will be required.

” I would presume he’s going to step forward and affirm willingly, the method the large bulk of individuals have,” Raskin stated.

Last month, Pence stated that he would think about affirming, however alerted that it would be “unmatched.”

” If there was an invite to take part, I would consider it,” Pence stated while speaking at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. “But you’ve heard me discuss the Constitution a couple of times today. Under the Constitution, we have 3 co-equal branches of federal government. Any invite to be directed to me, I would need to assess the distinct function I was serving in as vice president.”

Pence continued to state that it would be “extraordinary in history for a vice president to be summoned to affirm on Capitol Hill, however as I stated I do not wish to pre-judge.”

” My very first commitment is to continue to hold my oath, continue to support the structure of federal government preserved in the Constitution,” Pence stated.
