A male equipped with a knife got on phase and assaulted New York Republican candidate for guv Rep. Lee Zeldin throughout an outside project rally in the Rochester suburban area of Perinton Thursday night. The male supposedly battled with Zeldin however was controlled by somebody else at the rally. Zeldin was not harmed in the attack and completed his speech. Lt. Governor candidate Alison Esposito apparently suffered a cut hand in the attack.

Witnesses state Zeldin was offering a speech about bail reform at the VFW on Macedon Center Road when a male got on phase, began shouting, “battled with him a bit, and pulled a blade out.”
The supposed assailant was reduced by AMVETS nationwide Director Joe Chenelly. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated he was nabbed.

Tonight beyond ROC, a guy got on phase & & tried to stab @LeeZeldin throughout a rally speech in front of project advocates. Zeldin got aggressor’s wrist to stop him up until others helped in taking the assaulter to the ground. Police took the male into custody.
Congressman Zeldin, Alison Esposito and all members of Team Zeldin are safe following tonight’s attack. Congressman Zeldin went back on phase to complete his remarks and thank the police officers who reacted to the scene.
Far more need to be done to make NY safe once again. This runs out hand. Rep.
