Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is doubling down in the new year, emboldened by the right-wing expansion in the world with the historic election of Donald J. Trump in the US, and several developments in Europe – in Romania, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK… and many other nations.

The ’most powerful person in Europe’ Meloni is riding this wave, reigniting her much-praised and much-maligned plan to send ‘asylum seekers’ (a.k.a. illegal migrants) to Albania for processing and posterior deportation.

The right-wing government in Italy is bucking against the pressure from their own Globalist unelected Judicial system.

Reuters reported:

“Italy’s navy on Sunday was taking 49 migrants it picked up in international waters to detention facilities in Albania, the interior ministry said, resuming a plan to curb sea arrivals mired in legal controversy.”

Meloni directed the building of two ‘reception centers’ – detractors will call it migrant camps – in Albania.

That was the first deal diverting migrants to a non-EU country.

The centers have been empty since November, after judicial decisions stopped the program.

“The ministry said a patrol vessel was heading to Albania with 49 migrants onboard while further 53 who were also picked up, and who presented their passports to avoid immediate relocation, were in Italy awaiting the verification of their status.”

The government is enforcing its policy even after judges in Rome questioned its validity.

The controversy surrounding the plan revolves around a ruling by the European Court of Justice last year.

“The Court said no nation of origin could be considered safe if even just a part of it was dangerous, undermining Rome’s idea of deporting to Albania migrants from a selected list of “safe” countries with a view to swiftly repatriate them.”

But the European court will review Italy’s plan in the coming weeks, and issue a clarification of whether it is in compliance with EU law.

In the meantime, Meloni is flexing her geopolitical muscles and vising Saudi Arabia where she was very well treated, the Crown Prince shook her hand and showed just how much she is valued in the Kingdom.

She will be signing strategic partnership agreements with the Kingdom, in her continuing effort to reach out outside the EU sphere for solutions for her country and its economy.
