Freshman Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) on Tuesday presented a one-page resolution to expel embattled Rep. George Santos.
” Resolved, That, pursuant to Article I, Section 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution of the United States, Representative George Santos, be, and he thus is, expelled 4 from your home of Representatives.”– the resolution read.
Speaker McCarthy stated he will punt the resolution to the Ethics Committee.
Santos gave up last Wednesday after a federal grand jury returned a 13- count indictment.
Santos was charged with “7 counts of wire scams, 3 counts of cash laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and 2 counts of making materially incorrect declarations to your house of Representatives.”
According to the indictment evaluated by The Gateway Pundit, Santos was overcharged by zealous federal government district attorneys.
George Santos pleaded innocent to all the charges and was launched on $500,000 bond after his arraignment.
McCarthy stated he desires the Ethics Committee to “move quickly” on its probe of Santos after the Democrats attempted to require a vote on the New York Rep’s expulsion.
CNN reported:
Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated on Tuesday that he desires your home Ethics Committee to “move quickly” on its examination of Rep. George Santos after Democrats pressed to require a vote to expel the embattled congressman.
McCarthy’s statement came quickly after Democrats attempted to put House Republicans on the area by requiring the chamber to vote on the expulsion resolution later on today. Rather, McCarthy prepares to refer the resolution to the principles panel, which would need a bulk of your home to authorize. That would provide Republicans a possibility to avoid weighing in straight on whether Santos must be expelled from Congress. McCarthy showed that the complete House might act to penalize or even expel Santos depending on what the committee discovers.
” I believe we can take a look at this really rapidly and come to a conclusion on what George Santos did and did refrain from doing through principles, a safe bipartisan committee,” McCarthy informed press reporters. He included, “I would like the Ethics Committee to move quickly on this.”
