A search is underway after a U.S. military helicopter with 5 U.S. Marines onboard went missing out on throughout a flight from Nevada to California on Tuesday.
The CH-53 E Super Stallion helicopter left Creech Air Force Base in Nevada en path to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar near San Diego Tuesday night however stopped working to get here.
” The U.S. Marine Corps is looking for 5 U.S. Marines appointed to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing,” Marine Corps Air Station Miramar verified to Fox News. “The Marines were flying a CH-53 E Super Stallion helicopter from Creech Air Force Base to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Feb. 6, 2024, when the airplane was reported past due.
” The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is collaborating search and rescue efforts with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the Civil Air Patrol. The most updated info will be launched as it appears,” the declaration continued.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, and Cal Fire are helping the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in search and rescue efforts.
The constable’s department was informed at about 1 a.m. that the helicopter was past due for arrival and was last seen in Pine Valley, a mountainous area about 35 miles near San Diego.
Cal Fire reacted to the location of the airplane’s last recognized place in the Cleveland National Forest however was not able to find it.
