The City of Cincinnati revealed on Friday that it will close down its Ohio River consumption to avoid any possible contamination from the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment previously this month.

The city, in a declaration, stated that it and the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) are keeping track of the Ohio River, among the biggest rivers in the United States, after the chemical spill in East Palestine. Previously today, an Ohio ecological authorities validated that a plume of chemicals was observed taking a trip down the Ohio River, and at the time, it lay near Huntington, West Virginia.

” Out of an abundance of care,” the City’s declaration stated, “GCWW will shut down the Ohio River consumption ahead of the expected arrival of the last noticeable chemical concentration in the river.” As the water consumption is shut down, the city will change to its water reserves.

A day previously, GCWW stated in a declaration that water sample screening revealed “no noticeable levels of the chemicals” linked to the derailment in addition to the regulated burn.
