Carbon County Montana homeowners submitted a grievance after video emerged of regional election employees shredding tallies on election night last November.

The witnesses state they saw 21 batches of tallies being shredded on election night by an election employee.

County authorities later on came out and stated it was okay since they were simply “copies” of the military and abroad tallies.

An examination is underway in Carbon County into claims of possible tally shredding on election night last November.

It all began with a problem from a survey watcher.

The case was initially reported to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. It was handed off to the Red Lodge Police Department and is now with the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

It’s video that has Carbon County survey watcher Chip Bennett worried and asking concerns

It was recorded on Nov. 8, election night, on the county’s election workplace security electronic cameras.

” We see our election administrator shredding what appears to us to be absentee tallies,” stated Lisa Bennett, Chip’s other half.

She states the video is partly obstructed with a personal privacy screen however states the video programs 21 batches of files being gone through a shredder.

” We understand that there are several pages going through,” Bennett stated. “We can’t rather inform the number of pages that she’s counting.”

The Bennetts got in touch with the county and submitted a problem.

The County reacted.

The county states the video does not catch with some believe.

While nobody from the county would talk with MTN News on electronic camera, County Attorney Alex Nixon offered a declaration, stating Carbon County authorities and staff members did not shred tallies as declared in the video.
