Newly surfaced footage reveals a woman being set ablaze on a New York City subway platform.
The suspect, identified as an illegal immigrant, is seen intensifying the flames, while an NYPD officer allegedly walks past without intervening.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Sunday that a woman was fatally lit on fire aboard a stationary F train at Brooklyn’s Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station.
The attack occurred around 7: 30 a.m. when the suspect, without any prior interaction, approached the woman—who appeared to be sleeping—and ignited her clothing using a lighter.
Police believe that the man was sitting across from her on the train while she was napping and that he got up and tossed a lit match at her.
“Liquor bottles were laying around the victim, though it wasn’t clear if they played any part in the blaze,” the Post report adds.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the act as “one of the most depraved crimes one person could possibly commit against another human being.”
Officers on routine patrol detected smoke and discovered the woman engulfed in flames. Police extinguished the fire, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities eventually removed the woman via a body bag and wheeled it outside.
The suspect, a 33-year-old Guatemalan illegal alien who entered the U.S. in 2018, remained on the platform after the attack.

Later that day, three high school students recognized him from images released by the NYPD and alerted authorities.
Transit officers apprehended the suspect on another train, finding a lighter in his possession, according to the New York Post.

New footage revealed that the suspect remained at the station after the attack, sitting on a nearby bench.
As flames consumed the victim, the suspect was seen exacerbating the situation by fanning the flames.
Adding to the outrage, a transit police officer is seen walking past the burning woman, appearing to speak on a radio but continuing down the platform without rendering immediate assistance or attempting to apprehend the perpetrator.
