Iran’s leading Navy Commander revealed that Iran owns Antarctica, and the program prepares to develop a military base in the South Pole.
In a broadcast last fall, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani mentioned, “We have residential or commercial property rights in the South Pole. We have a strategy to raise our flag there and perform military and clinical work.”
Iran’s statement of ownership of Antarctica happened the exact same time the Biden admin chose to thaw $6 billion in Iranian funds that were being kept in Qatar.
It’s uncertain if Iran’s declaration was simply a blanket hazard, considering their action of declaring ownership of Antarctica breaches the Antarctic Treaty, which entered force in 1961.
The Antarctic Treaty states, “There can be no military bases or structures of any kind, no military maneuvers and no weapons screening. Military workers can be utilized or stationed in Antarctica for science or other tranquil factors just.”
