A sweeping first-of-its-kind analysis released by think tank Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) concludes that electrical cars (EV) would cost 10s of countless dollars more if not for generous taxpayer-funded rewards.

According to the TPPF report– authored by energy specialists Jason Isaac and Brent Bennett– the typical design year 2021 EV would cost around $48,698 more to own over a 10- year duration without the incredible $22 billion in taxpayer-funded handouts that the federal government offers to electrical cars and truck producers and owners. The analysis consider federal fuel performance programs, electrical grid pressure, and direct state and federal aids.

” It is not an overstatement to state that the federal government is funding EVs to a higher degree than even wind and solar electrical power generation and starting an extraordinary undertaking to remake the whole American automobile market,” the report states. “Despite these enormous rewards, EVs are getting a warm reaction from most of Americans who can not carry their greater expense.”

” It’s time for federal and state federal governments to stop driving the American automobile market off a financial cliff and enable markets to drive more enhancements in expense and performance,” it continues.
